Breakfast with a view of Schlossplatz – Isopi in Stuttgart

This morning we headed to Isopi, and honestly, I couldn't have imagined a more relaxed start to the weekend.

The drinks first

We worked our way straight through the drinks menu – an Ube Latte on ice, a rhubarb drink and a cappuccino ended up on our table. Just the selection of signature drinks is huge, so there's something for every taste.

Eggs in a jar, avocado toast and tons of choices

We ate eggs in a jar with fresh bread and whipped butter, plus avocado toast on sourdough bread. And I have to say, the bread alone was already top-notch – really good sourdough, plus top-quality avocado, nothing to complain about there.

The menu itself is really extensive: various bowls, like an acai bowl, different egg dishes, but also something more unusual like a baked brioche with cheese hollandaise (I can't remember the exact name right now, but just remember: the baked version). You can also put together your own combination or leave things out, however you like.

And for anyone who has to watch out for intolerances: great service on that front too. We had a few questions, and the server went straight into the kitchen to check, so you can really be on the safe side. I thought that was really great. Fitting with that: the bowls are available with vegan yogurt, there's a Greek croissant with vegan feta, and when it comes to drinks, besides lactose-free there are three more plant-based milk alternatives to choose from. If you make it by at lunchtime: Monday to Friday there's also an additional weekly menu with a seasonal lunch special.

The location makes it

The outdoor area is huge, with a really beautiful view of Schlossplatz. Even so, it's surprisingly calm and relaxed to sit there, and there are plenty of umbrellas, so you get sun or shade depending on your mood. Inside it's a bit smaller, but very stylishly furnished – so it's also perfectly equipped for a rainy day.

Honestly

Price-wise, it's within the normal Stuttgart range, though some things, like a slice of cake for €6.50, are a bit on the higher end. Taste-wise, we both enjoyed our dishes, we just would have liked a bit more seasoning and pep – but that's ultimately a matter of taste. As for the portions, I was a bit torn: the eggs in a jar were rather small, especially since the bread is charged separately and there were only two small slices – you don't really get full from that. The avocado toast, on the other hand, was completely fine in terms of size.

Would I go again?

Definitely. Consistently attentive staff, a really cool place to feel good, perfect for a relaxed start to the weekend – happily with visitors or friends too. As a tourist you can obviously sit here really nicely, but my tip: go on a weekday instead, for example on a Friday afternoon if you happen to finish work early. Then you can also relax and watch the goings-on at Schlossplatz without it getting too crowded.

Good to know:Right on Schlossplatz, Stuttgart. Large outdoor area with umbrellas, cozy indoor seating. Upon request, the kitchen will check on intolerances.

Have fun enjoying it,

Kelie
